Description:
Chaining Buddy Hip Chain is a distance measuring device that operates by measuring the length of string that is drawn from a spool that is within the instrument. The impact resistant, lightweight plastic case can be worn on the hip, freeing the hands for note writing or soil sampling. The biodegradable cotton thread is 9,000 feet long and comes in white or orange. Counter reads to 99,999 feet.
The Fremaco "Chaining Buddy" Hip Chain features big, clear windows in the top that are permanently held in place with rivets. The Fremaco "Chaining Buddy" Hip Chain has a unique counter mounting system that's designed to firmly hold the counter in place and locks in with a click. Massive metal hardware anchors the roll spindle and a tensioner friction pad is mechanically attached (no glue to fail). The Fremaco Chaining Buddy Hip Chain also features a counter mechanism that is custom built for rust resistance with stainless steel internal components.
The Fremaco Chaining Buddy Hip Chain comes in a high-vis red case with a lid security lock and belt loops are reinforced with a steel rivet for a long service life. A Fremaco "Chaining Buddy" Hip Chain is used by technicians working in heavily forested conditions. Hip Chains are used to measure a distance traveled. Hip chains function similarly to a tape measure except they use cast off a thin filament when measuring.
Under a canopy of tree's, GPS positions can be unreliable. Hip Chains or "topofil" as they are sometimes known, are simple, trusted tools for measuring and marking when doing timber cruising, claim staking, fence contracts and other types of outdoor measuring and environmental studies. There are several hip chain models on the market, but after 25 years of business, Fremaco knows that small differences in detail or quality make all the difference out in the woods.
